Lorraine Winsor
April 24, 2017
Detailed Description of request and site plan
6768 158th Lane NW, Ramsey MN 55303
Parcel number 15-32-25-43-0014
Impact:
The environmental impact of introducing bees to my community is minimal. The main objective
is to emphasize conservation. Thus, I will do everything in my powers to keep my beehives as
environmentally conscious as possible and plan on leaving a small green print while maintaining
and the hives. Ail jars utilized will be made from recyclable glass and use only small amount of
electricity during harvesting of the honey that will be used to make homemade jams as well as
introducing pollen to different family members that have allergies to pollen. Because three of my
family members have hay fever as well as many others have seasonal allergies to pollen. Leading
the bees playing a crucial role in pollinating the plants, while creating fresh honey for my family
to help overcome their seasonal allergies. Overall, the honey production will be very low
environmental impact while benefiting from the pollination brought upon by bees.
Quality Control
To ensure quality control, I will be train family members of the safety and have informed
neighbors of location and intentions. After I have gone through the U of M Beekeeping course,
which would help me gain a full understanding of bees keeping etiquette. All family members
will from time to time analyze the health of the bees to ensure healthy, disease free bees are
producing honey only under my supervision. Because I want my children to be educated and
aware of the importance of the environmental impact that each animal has in the world including
bees.
The addition steps of checking for appropriate availability of food and water as well as the clean
removal of pests. Once utilizing personal machinery, the machines will be cleaned by daily
routine to ensure best quality control. Each of the neighbors on 158t1' lane Northwest as well as
157th have been notified of my intentions of beekeeping. Each of the neighbors were asked if
they had allergies to bees, and if they approved or objected. Each willing to go and get an epi-
pen just in case they came in contact and were accidently stung by one of the bees.
*See attached Petition
Staffing Requirements
Since the only staff myself, (Lorraine Winsor) is the only staff and I will not take on additional
staff. I am fully capable of dealing with bees, whether conducting a routine check up on a hive,
