Councilmember Cook noted this has all the same information and makes the web page more fi-iendly to the citizens. He suggested an emailing for people looking for job applications. Assistant City Administrator Nelson indicated these changes will also raise some challenges. Additional training would be required for existing staff to manage the structure and maintain the website in-house. Staff anticipates that assistance from an outside website consultant may be required in the transition and as they expand the information and services available on-line. As they progress with the in-house management of the website, staff will monitor the time spent on these activities and the level of technical expertise required of staff, which may require re- assessing positions associated with the website management. Councilme~ber Elvig indicated he would like staff to make a recommendation at some point on how broad they want to be with this, and where they would like to see this go. It was discussed that there is the potential for GIS tectmology to be utilized at a future time. Councilmember Cook asked if job openings are posted on the City's website. Assistant City Administrator Nelson responded in the affirmative. She explained they have been paying $75 per hour for this to be done, and would like to do it in-house. Consensus of the City Council was to direct staff to progress with the Laser Fiche system, utilizing Web-Link, eliminating GovDocs, and replicating the document notification service.
