Thc remainder of the cost would b~ split 50/50. This would take approximately B0 percent <br />off the sndrc cost. Assistant Public Works Director Olson indicated a feasibility study will <br />pr?amd and bro'ttght back to the soonest Council mestfn~ after the feasibility study is <br />completed. He noted bringin~ the case directly to the Council, rather than bfin$in$ it back to the <br />Public Wo~:ks Commiuee first, will speed up the process. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Absent: Councilmember Pearson. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Public Works Campus Layout and Tour <br /> <br />Councj]mernber Zimnqem-~an reported the Public Works Con-m~ittee was given a tour of the <br />Public Works Campus. Some of the equipment is getting aged and some of the building is in <br />need of repair. The Committee discussed the ~-owing needs of Public Works and the possibility <br />of a portable temporary classroom facility. They also discussed the futur~ of this area and the <br />possibility of expanding this out to Limonite Street to the west. It was noted that with the Town <br />Center the,, would be needing more area with this'carnpus. <br /> <br />Councih-nember EJvi~ stated the Public YVorks DepmXment has a si~2ificant need, as the <br />departn~ent is basically working, out of a tin shed with make shift offices. There are a certain <br />amount of Jrr~provements that will be required when they look at the size of the City and where <br />they are Soin:4. ,~dso, it seems natural that the City would get fairly ag~-essive about acquiring <br />the last chunk of land available that is cot~nected with this property. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmen-nan asked if the land at the northwest comer of the facility out to <br />Limonffe Street is part of the land the City is negotiating £or. <br /> <br />City AdmJmstrator Norman repijed it is not cun'ently, but the land Js in the City's plan fo:- <br />ne?tiatJons. The City has been m contact regarding this: but the}, are not in active negotiation. <br /> <br />Councih'nember E]vig stated the sooner this land could be acquired it would be better with the <br />~rowth o; Town Center. The prophr'ty will not get any less expensive as they go along. <br /> <br />Counciirnen~ber Cook noted the7 may want to look in this area for land for a water plant at some <br />:point.
