Councilmember Elvig introduced thc following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #04-08-218 RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT/44-24, HELIUM STREET/169TM DRAINAGE PROJECT WHEREAS, on July 13, 2004, City Council adopted Resolution #04-07-177 approving the plans and specifications for the above referenced work; and WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the Improvement Project #04-24, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law; and WHEREAS, the following is a summary of the six lowest quotes that were received: Bidder Penn Contracting Dryden Excavating Dave Perkins W.B. Miller Jay Bros. Northdale Construction Engineers Estimate AmountofBid $66,24O.O0 $67,293.35 $68,908.00 $74,468.00 $78,685.00 $91,532.82 $60,000.00 AND WHEREAS, it appears that Penn Contracting is the lowest responsible bidder. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1) That the Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Penn Contracting in the name of the City of Ramsey for the construction of Improvement Project #04-24 in the amount of $66,240.00. 2) That the City Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next to lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed.
