I
i
!
I
I
I
i
I
i
I
I
I
i
I
I
i

May 14, 1982
Page Two

The following summarizes the preliminary evaluations of the sites. Complete
evaluations are enclosed.

Da~to~

This proposed sanitary landfill site is located on County Rd. 12 in northern
Dayton. The site is located in a rural residential-agricultural area. The
site is compatible with planned land use and development patterns. Environ-
mental impacts appear to be minimal, assuming proper environmental controls can
be installed. Some additional screening of the facility may have to be pro-
vided. The site is consistent with Council policies protecting agriculture and
natural resources. Access to the site is adequate.

Hassan Township

This proposed sanitary landfill site is located at the intersection of County
Rd. 144 and Hwy. 101. The site is located in an industrial-commercial and
rural residential-agricultural area. The site is compatible with planned land
use and development patterns. Environmental impacts appear to be minimal,
assuming proper environmental controls can be installed. Screening would have
to be provided. The site is consistent with Council policies protecting
agriculture and natural resources. Access to the site is adequate.

The public meeting is intended to provide you with an opportunity to voice your
concerns and offer additional information the Council could use in making a
decision about the proposed sites.

At a subsequent meeting, the Council will review all public comments on the
county's five sites and make a decision to approve or disapprove them. You
will be notified of that subsequent meeting. Not all 'sites approved by the
Council will become landfills. However, approved sites will form a "pool" from
which a number of locations will be chosen by the counties in 1983.

If you wish to speak at the public meeting, please call Shirlee Smith of the
Council staff at 291-6421.

If you have questions about the reports, please call Paul Smith of the
Council's solid waste planning staff at 291-6408.

Sincerely,

Charles R. Weaver
Cha i rman

CRW:sa
