It was stated that the City requires a blacktop seven (7) ton streets
in its industrial parks. Mayor Gamec stated the City Council will have to
make a policy decision on this matter in regards to the following problems:

a) Financing of these types of streets become prohibitive to the
developer if he can get the financing.

b) If sewer becomes available within a reasonable span of time, the
developer or business in the industrial area could not afford the
cost of having to replace these expensive blacktop streets after
the sewer was put in place.

Councilman Sorteberg stated industrial lots do not sell very fast so the
industrial developer really has a heavy cost burden and with this unstable
money market they have an additional burden to contend with in the develop-
merit of industr±al land. ~ ~ - ~
Council further directed that a letter be. sent to the Metro C/~mcil and ~~
the Metro Waste Water Control Commission giving 'them 90 days/to provide /~
sanitary sewer ~nterceptors at the two designated points in the City of
Ramsey. As the City Council stated, the lack of sanitary sewer in their
industrial and commercial areas regarding growth and also making it very
costly to the City's commercial and i~dustrial areas.

C/March 11, 1980 ·
Page 7
