Basics of Stand Up Paddle Boarding- Friday, July 7, 2:00 - 4:00 pm, at Sunfish Lake Park, 6330 <br />Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey. This class is the perfect introduction for paddle board beginners. <br />Class is limited to the first 7 registrants. Participants must be at least 15 years of age. A workshop designed for Planning Commissioners is <br />scheduled for Tuesday, July 11, at The League of MN Cities offices in St. Paul (145 University <br />Ave. W.) or at the Initiative Foundation in Little Falls (405 — 1st St. SE). Sessions are from 1:00 <br />to 4:00 p.m. Attached to the Weekly Update is a flyer detailing the Planning Commissioner <br />Work Shop. <br />Recreation Programming —Art in the Park: Art Fair. Join the City of Ramsey for its first <br />annual art fair on Sunday, July 9 from 10:00 am — 4:00 pm at Elmcrest Park, 16303 Quicksilver <br />Street NW, Ramsey. Community members and visitors will be able to share and enjoy the arts, <br />with over 30 artists participating. This free event will also feature food vendors (from Texas -style <br />BBQ to mini donuts), artist demos, and introductory art classes. Introductory art classes are free <br />for everyone! These 45-minute classes will occur at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm and will be <br />led by Rumriver Art Center staff. Artist demonstrations will include glass marble making at 12:00 <br />pm and plein air painting at 2:00 pm. All art classes and demonstrations will take place in the Park <br />Community Building, rain or shine. <br />You can vote on your favorite artist for their chance to win a grand prize of $200 for the "People's <br />Choice Award," first and second runner up, as well as a youth artist award. And you have the <br />chance to win your favorite artists work! Rumriver Art Center will sell raffle tickets at the Art <br />Fair for $2 each, you do not have to be present to win. The Farmers Market is scheduled to begin next week, Thursday, July <br />13, 3:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m. The Market will be in the same locale as last year — across from City <br />Hall along Center Street. This growing season has been somewhat cool, so this first week is <br />unlikely to have some of the market favorites, namely tomatoes — and, of course as our market is <br />truly locally grown, sweet corn is weeks out yet. <br />New Summer Recycling Event to be held on Saturday, July 29! The standard Spring and Fall <br />Recycling Events have been expanded to include a Summer Recycling Event! The Summer <br />Recycling Day event is scheduled for Saturday, July 29, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Public <br />Works campus. The City has implemented this summer event to provide residents another <br />opportunity to dispose of items that are generally not accepted through the curbside recycling <br />program, including appliances, electronics, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, scrap metal and <br />tires. Standard recyclables, such as newspaper, cardboard, cans, bottles etc., are also <br />accepted. Mattresses and box springs in any condition will be accepted. Carpeting (and carpet <br />padding) and textiles are also accepted. The event also includes free document destruction (paper <br />shredding) for residents to securely dispose of papers containing personal data (limit of 3 boxes <br />
