CALL TO ORDER <br /> Mayor Strommen called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:35 p.m. <br /> 2. TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> 2.01: Discussion Regarding Participation in the Public Employees Retirement Association <br /> (PERA) Phased Retirement Option (PRO) <br /> Human Resources Manager Lasher reviewed the staff report. <br /> Mayor Strommen stated that the State has a post retirement option, which sounds similar to the <br /> PRO, which allows employees to retire and then return to assist with the transfer of duties, <br /> mentoring of the new employee, and assist with special projects. She stated that it is a really <br /> effective option. <br /> Councilmember Kuzma asked what impact there would be if the program ends in 2019. <br /> Human Resources Manager Lasher stated that the decision would be up to PERA. <br /> Councilmember Kuzma stated that it sounds like a nice program that the City could offer to staff <br /> and would not have an additional cost but would actually provide a savings. <br /> City Council Work Session /May 23, 2017 <br /> Page 1 of 5 <br />
