washers. Stainless steel bolts, nuts, and washers. Spring washers shall be manufactured from <br />type 304 stainless steel, special "spring grade". Saddles shall include threaded outlet tapping <br />sleeves and Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) gaskets. <br />All fittings for copper tubing shall be cast brass, having uniformity in wall thickness and strength, <br />and shall be free of defects affecting serviceability. All copper pipe fittings shall be flared or <br />compression type. All threads for underground service line fittings shall conform to the <br />requirements of AWWA C-800. Each fitting shall be permanently and plainly marked with the <br />name or trademark of the manufacturer. Fittings for thermoplastic pipe types shall be of the <br />same material and pressure class as the piping. <br />Curb stop service boxes shall be gray iron conforming to the requirements of ASTM A 48 for <br />Class 20 or higher tensile strength and shall have at least twelve inches (12") of vertical <br />adjustment for the cover depth specified in the Plans, Specifications, and Special Provisions. <br />E Polyethylene Encasement Material <br />Polyethylene encasement material shall conform to the requirements of AWWA C-105 for tube <br />type installation and 8 mil nominal film thickness. <br />F Mechanical Joint Restraints <br />Mechanical joint restraints shall be ductile iron conforming to the requirements of ASTM A536 <br />and AWWA C-600. Joint restraints shall be American, US Pipe, Star Pipe Products, or EBBA <br />Iron Mega -Lug type, and be designed to withstand the design pressures indicated in the Plans, <br />Specifications, and Special Provisions. Mechanical joint restraints shall be fusion bonded <br />epoxy coated meeting the requirements of AWWA C-116. <br />All nuts, bolts, and tie rod type restraints shall be stainless steel, corrosion -resistant coating, or <br />coated with an owner approved rustproofing material. <br />G Mortar <br />Mortar for use in masonry construction shall meet the requirements of MNDOT 2506.2B and <br />ASTM C270. <br />H Concrete <br />Concrete used for cast -in -place masonry construction shall be produced and furnished in <br />accordance with the provisions of MnDOT Specification 2461 for the mix design indicated in the <br />Plans, Specifications, or Special Provisions. The requirements for Grade B concrete shall be <br />met where a higher grade is not specified. Type 3, air -entrained, concrete shall be furnished and <br />used in all structures having weather exposure. <br />Tracer Wire for Non -Conductive Pipe <br />Tracer wire for use with all thermoplastic pipe types shall be Underwriters Laboratories (UL) <br />listed for use in direct burial applications. Tracer wire shall be a minimum 12 AWG copper clad <br />steel rated to 30 volts, High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (HMWPE) meeting ASTM D-1248, <br />with designation identified on the outside of the wire casing. <br />Page 26 <br />
