Economic Development Manager LaFrance stated CBRE started at the end of February so they
will be submitting a report at the end of March. He stated that topic will be added to a future
Work Session agenda.
City Administrator Ulrich stated part of the contract was a requirement for monthly reports and
CBRE had committed to that activity.
Councilmember Riley asked if CBRE will be talking about each parcel with staff so they have
full knowledge about the status.
Economic Development Manager LaFrance stated staff can reach out again with an update to
assure there is no confusion but he felt CBRE had a good grasp about the North Common’s
property.
Mayor Strommen asked staff to use its discretion whether staff will present the CBRE monthly
report or if CBRE should be in attendance.
Economic Development Manager LaFrance stated staff is also working with CBRE on locating
utilities.
Councilmember Johns asked for an update on the sidewalk on Alpine that was not installed with
the road construction project.
City Engineer Westby stated staff is looking at alternatives and initially looked at a typical multi-
use pathway that was wider. Because that would have impacted properties, options are being
considered for a pathway that is narrower along this County roadway. He stated he is waiting for
clarification from Anoka County on the width that it would consider. In addition, there are
issues with private utilities that will impact the design of that trail. City Engineer Westby stated
staff will report on this topic by the end of April.
The Council agreed with the suggestion of Mayor Strommen that the Public Works Committee
provide a recommendation on this matter.
Councilmember Riley expressed concern with the high level of lighting at the Ramsey Train
Station during evening hours. He asked staff to determine whether there are options to shut off
some of the lighting.
City Administrator Ulrich stated he made Metropolitan Transit aware of that concern and will
check back for an update.
Councilmember Kuzma stated it may be an issue of safety.
4. MAYOR / COUNCIL / STAFF INPUT
Councilmember Riley asked when the TIF District will be finalized.
City Council Work Session / March 25, 2014
Page 6 of 7
