A preconstruction meeting will also be conducted before construction begins. Staff will then contact all abutting <br />property and business owners to provide updates on the proposed construction schedule and operations based on the <br />Contractors input at the preconstruction meeting. <br />Substantial completion will occur by September 1, 2017 to allow school buses unimpeded access to their normal <br />routes before the next school year begins, and final completion will occur by September 22, 2017. <br />The Assessment Hearing is scheduled for October 10, 2017. <br />Notification: <br />Notifications are not required for this case. <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />Observations: <br />Staff has contacted all abutting businesses and property owners to inform them of the pending construction and <br />project schedule outlined above. The primary focus of staff's discussions with property owners has been to ensure <br />them adequate access is provided to all throughout construction. The plans call for all cross gutters at driveways <br />and streets to be reconstructed. This means all driveways will need to be closed while the concrete valley gutters <br />cure. Staff has attempted to minimize this time by using high -early concrete, which sets up quicker than standard <br />concrete, typically within 3 days or so, depending on weather. <br />Alternatives: <br />Alternative #1 — Motion to adopt Resolution #17-06-139 accepting bids and awarding a contract for construction <br />for Improvement Project #17-00, Sunwood Drive Reconstruction, to North Valley, Inc, in the amount of <br />$409,385.03. <br />Alternative #2 — Motion of other. <br />Funding Source: <br />The low bid submitted by North Valley, Inc. of Nowthen, Minnesota, is $409,385.03.
