Compost Sites Anoka County, MN - Official Website <br />* Sunset Closing Hours <br />Starting at the end of September, sunset occurs before 7 p.m. The compost sites are not equipped with lights. For the safety of <br />our workers and customers we cannot allow access to the site after sunset. Please allow at least 15 minutes before closing time <br />to pay for and unload your yard waste. <br />Materials Accepted <br />Leaves, Grass, and Non -Woody <br />Yard Waste <br />The following materials are considered <br />leaves, grass and other non -woody <br />yard waste: acorns, garden waste, <br />grass clippings, leaves, pine cones and <br />needles, sod (residential quantities), <br />soft -bodied green plants, and weeds. <br />Leaves and grass must be debagged. <br />Tree Waste <br />The following materials are considered <br />tree waste: brush, evergreen boughs, <br />logs, shrub trimmings, stumps. The <br />price depends on the size and amount <br />of the material. The loads are <br />measured to determine the quantity <br />that is being dropped off. Tree waste <br />may be loose or bundled. The more <br />compact you make your load, the lower <br />the fee. <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />Organics <br />There is no charge for county residents <br />to drop off organic waste. Materials <br />accepted include food scraps, non - <br />recyclable uncoated paper, and <br />compostable products certified by the <br />Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI). <br />Click here to sign up for the program <br />and for a full list of accepted items. <br />*Please unload and debag all yard/tree waste and bring all bags/containers home. Even paper or other compostable bags need <br />to be debagged and brought home.
