The appearance and dress of City employees has a direct reflection on the professionalism of our <br />services. A neat, well-groomed employee presents a positive image of the City and demonstrate <br />the pride of the City employees. Appearance and attire have a definite impact on the way <br />community members perceive City staff and the confidence that customers have in the City's <br />ability to provide quality services. The standard office dress for employees Monday through <br />Friday will be Business Casual. <br />Appropriate Business Casual Attire <br />The following information should guide employees on proper dress in the work place. Although it <br />is difficult to develop a policy that will cover all individual variations in dress and style for each <br />work situation or circumstance, the following guidelines have been established based on public <br />image, job safety, and personal hygiene: <br />However, the Business Casual dress code may be relaxed on Friday's, as described below. <br />Appropriate business casual dress includes: <br />• Suits, Pant Suits, Sport Coats. <br />• Dress slacks, pants, khakis <br />• Dress shirt with or without a tie. <br />• Dresses, skirts and jumpers (no more than 3 inches above the knee). <br />• Blouses, shirts, sweaters, or pullovers. <br />• Any type of business shoe. <br />Appropriate attire for Fridays: <br />• Casual slacks, pants, denim jeans (as long as they are in good condition with no tears or <br />holes), and capris. <br />• Casual shirts (no t-shirts), nice sweatshirts or sweaters, (sweatshirts shall not have slogans <br />or advertising larger than 2 inches, other than city logos). <br />• Athletic shoes in good condition. <br />Depaitinent Heads or their designee will make the final determination on appropriate attire based on <br />working environment, safety concerns, and day-to-day conditions. <br />Employees who take Friday off cannot substitute another day for "casual Friday." <br />Inappropriate Attire <br />Except as allowed on casual Fridays, the following items are considered inappropriate for the <br />office environment. T-shirts or sweatshirts <br />• Halter tops, tank tops, tube tops, muscle shirts, deck shoes, flip flops. <br />• Athletic wear (sweatpants, sweat suits, workout clothes, tennis shoes). <br />• Denim jeans, shorts, mini -skirts, skorts. <br />• Body -hugging clothes. <br />• Garments revealing the midriff or off -the -shoulder garments. <br />• Dirty, ripped, wrinkled or stained clothing. <br />431Page <br />
