Park and Recreation Commission <br />Meeting Date: 10/12/2017 <br />By: Mark Riverblood, Engineering/Public <br />Works <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Consider Goals and Objectives --Comprehensive Plan, and Parks Master Plan <br />5. 1. <br />Purpose/Background: <br />In June 2017, the Park and Recreation Commission conducted a detailed review of the Goals and Strategies within <br />the City's existing Comprehensive Plan, relating to parks, trails and open space. This review was useful in the <br />context of the update to the 2040 Comp Plan (underway now), and also as the Commission continues the Park's <br />Master Plan endeavor. <br />Notification: <br />Observations/Alternatives: <br />Attached are the approved June,8th 2017 meeting minutes which includes a summary of the discussion on each of <br />the Goals and Strategies. Based upon discussion, the Commission should clarify which Goals and Strategies remain <br />germane for the 2040 Comp Plan update —as well as other Goals and Strategies as may be envisioned for the Parks <br />Master Plan. <br />Funding Source: <br />N/A <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the Commission thoroughly acquaint themselves with the 2030 Comprehensive Plan (especially <br />Chapter 10), to develop and refine goals and strategies for both the next Comp Plan, as well as the Parks Master <br />Plan. <br />Action: <br />Based upon discussion and consensus, the Commission should identify which Goals and Strategies remain germane <br />for the Comp Plan update —and other Goals and Strategies as may be envisioned. <br />Chapter 10 Comp Plan <br />Park and Trail Map <br />June 2017 mtg minutes <br />Draft August 2017 Objective Statements <br />Community Engagement <br />Attachments <br />Form Review <br />Inbox <br />Reviewed By Date <br />
