When driving down Traprock Street into the park, a road v~rs offto the right between the
sorghum fields and the gra,/el pit. This road e,'dsts to prov/de access into the agTicultural rields in this area.
Fur~&er down Traprock Street splits into two private roads leading to each life estate. )all of these ?cads
are unpaved roads and appear compacted from long use.

Mowed paths exist on the eastern side of Traprock stre~ for easier car. and wa 'lk/ng accessibility to
the ~asslands and oak woodland-brushtand. A mowed road exists behind the Husby home and vCinds
down to the boat launch area. A mowed path. extends from the southeastern portion of the Husby estate
along the river to the end of the park land and then swings north along the fence separating the park from
the Rivenwick subdivision (Figure 6). It then circles back to the Husby estate.

Utilities

Overhead electric lines and underg-round telephone cables have already been establLshed in the park
(~ox, 1995) (Figure 7). They extend down Traprock Street fi'om poles along Highway 10. The lines veer
offTraprock Street to follow the private driveways and end up at both the Husby and' Anderson homes.

The park lies within the Metropolitan Urban Service Area (MUSA) [me, but a storm sewer has not
yet been installed to the area (Schroeder, 1995). The city of Ramsey proposed a storm sewer that will be
sited down Ramsey Boulevard and follow the park/Riv~ck subdivision boundary. The storm sewer is
scheduled to be built by 1998.

Development in Area

Higiway 10 is heavy in commercial development with some lightmdustnal areas. Businesses such
as boat rentals, car dealers, gas stations, and craft and flower shops line the highway. A 20 acre parcel of
Mississippi West Regional Park land that straddles Hig, hway 10 has been proposed to be sold °ff£or the
addition of a frontage road an the southern side of Highway 10 and for possible commercial use (Boos,
1995). The area of land along Highway 10 to the east of Mississippi West Regional Park is slated for
commercial development, whereas the land along Highway 10 to the west o£the park ma,/become
commercial or residential ~i~re 1).

IDle population m .%no'-Ka Counp¢ and wmhin the crry of Ramsey has been rising rapidly since !970
(.,xanoka Count,/. 1995L T,ne population in the city of Rmnsev was 14,08I in 1993 and is proje~ed to ~ow
co 22.900 by vie ,/ear 2020.
