park so that the users can learn about the pot~tial for degradation and treat the park with the sensithviry
that is necessary..

Recommendation: All road~ and trails throughout the park shouM ,~ve a vegetative buffer strip
around them to reduce and control human impacts on the established communities and the Mississippi
R~ver.

Because the park is expected to be used by many-visitors, traffic (both human and automotive) is
unavoidable. Car exhaust and heavy traffic in areas immecLiately surrounding roads and trails could become
damaging to the native communines establ/shed m the park: Buffers o£ spec/es tolerant of such conditicras
should be established to reduce impact to the nat/,ze communities.
J~ecommendan'on: Vegetation for the buffer strips should be selected from nat,'ye species
whenever possible. .

To ensure max/mum representation of nalSve species within the park, buffer strips composed of
native Cecies are desirable. However, non-native species may prove to be a necessary alternative.

Recommendation: The patio entrance should be located at the intersec~on of Highway JO and
Ramsev Boulevard (County Road 56).

Currently the park ~trance is at the intersection oft-tighwa? 10 and Traprock Street. This
intersection contains no stoplight, which can make turning onto Traprock Street dLfficutt during heavy
rraESc. The intersect/on at Highway 10 and County Road 56 aLready has a stoplight and could better
accommodate cars turning into the park.

Recommendat~'on: New roads, trails, and parla'ng lots should be built to accommodate Park

useF3'.

Many visitors are expected to use the park as the city of Ramsey continues to grow. Current roads
and trails would be Lnadequate at getting people around the park· New roads and m-a/ts must be built to
meet visitor needs and provide access to all parts of the park·

Recommendation: The new roads and trails bui#should include the current road system
whenever po.~sible.

Many roads and trail already e,,dst m the park. These sites can serve as the foundation of the
park's £uture road and trail nev~ork. By using the existing roads and trails' excessive impact on other
habitats will be a,,'o~ded.

29
