It s'hould be installed <br /> in accordance with Table 2C-3. <br /> <br /> The Hill sign and supplemental grade (W7-3) plaque (see <br /> Section 2C.44 ~ used in combination, or the W7- i b sign used <br /> alone, shoulcl be installed in advance of downgrades for the <br /> tbllowing conclitions: <br /> <br /> A. 5% grade that is more than 900 m ~3,000 fi~ in length; <br /> B. 67,J grade- that is more than 600 m {2,000 ~) in lengflx <br /> C. 7% grade that is more dmn 300 m (1,000 ~) in lengtin; <br /> D. 8% grade that is more than 225 m ~750 ~) in [engtln; <br /> OF <br /> g. 9°b grade that is more than 150 m (500 fi)in length. <br /> Th~se signs should also be installed ~br steeper grades or <br /> whet: crash experience and fi'eld observations indicate a <br />:need.' <br /> <br /> Supplemental piaques (see Section 2C.44) and larger <br />signs should be used tbr emphasis or where special hill char- <br />acteristics exist.
