CASE <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR PRELIIMINARY SITE PLAN REVIEW <br />FOR RAMSEY MUNICIPAL CENTER <br /> CASE OF CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> By: Patrick Trudgeon, AICP, <br /> Assistant Community DeveloPment Director <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City o[ Ramsey is proposing to develop a 69,070 square foot Municipal Center <br />consisting ot"a two story, City Hall and one-story Police Station. The Municipal Center is <br />designed fbr an additional story, on each part of the building for an additional 10,700 <br />square J'bet. In <br />the Spring of 2004, the City Council authorized the creation of schematic plans for a new <br />Municipal Center. At this point, the schematic design is completed. The City Council <br />reviewed the schematic plan during their November 9, 2004 ~vork session. At that <br />meeting, the City Council directed Staff to bring forward the preliminary site plan for the <br />new Municipal Center to the Planning Commission for review. Prior to making a final <br />decision on whether or not to build a new Municipal Center, the Ci~ Council wanted the <br />site plan to go through the approval process for two reasons: a) to make sure the ihcility <br />will meet the standards of the Ramsey Town Center; and b) to identi~ any changes <br />needed in tim phm so as to better get an understanding of costs of the project. <br /> <br />As previously mentioned, the Ramsev Municipal Center is proposed to be 69,070 square <br />l'ccl: in size with the possibility of adding on another 10,700 square iket. The Ramsev <br />Municipal Center will be located in the core of the Ramsev Toxvn Center at the comer of <br />5umv,>,:,d Drive and Sapphire St. The City Parking Ramp will be located directly to the <br /> ~,un,,: ,.
