CASE # ?

PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO RAMSEY CITY CODE CHAPTER 9
(ZONING AND SUBDIVISION OF LAND) SECTION 9.50.05;
By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik

Background:

Often times the City is faced with situations where a property owner has a reasonable need to
convey some of his or her property to the adjacent property owner. At the present time, the only
tool the City has in place, to in essence relocate an interior lot line between two lots, is a minor
subdivision. The minor subdivision is intended for the creation of plats containing 3 lots or less.
Using a minor subdivision to simply realign an interior lot line between two lots is an excessive
procedure.

Observations:

City Staff has identified the need for a tool to administratively approve the realignment of an
interior lot line between two lots. An ordinance has been drafted which would amend the City
Code to give City Staff the authority to approve a lot line realignment in those instances where no
adverse impacts will result from the action or no new lots would be created. A copy of the
proposed ordinance is enclosed for your information.

Recommendation:

City Staff recommends approval of the proposed ordinance.

Commission Action:

Motion to:
Recommend/Not recommend that City Council adopt Ordinance #91- amending
Chapter 9 (Zoning and Subdivision of Land), Section 9.50.05 of the Ramsey'City Code.

Review Checklist:

P&Z: 8/6/91

City Adminiswator
City Engineer
City Attorney
Zoning Administrator
