Staff is requesting <br />direction as to whether the City should purchase properties west of Armstrong Blvd. when they <br />become available since the area will become more important in the future as the Town Center <br />develops. <br /> <br />Motion by Member Gromberg, seconded by Member Anderson, to recommended that the City <br />Council start accumulating properties west of Armstrong Boulevard when they become available <br />and begin the process by entering into negotiations to purchase Menkveld property. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Members, Anderson, Scheiber and Gromberg. Voting No: <br />Chairperson Riley. Absent: Members Blaha, Zimmerman and LeTourneau. <br /> <br />Further discussion: The EDA directed staff to bring the item back to the April EDA meeting to <br />review the financing package for acquiring the Menkveld property. <br /> <br />Case #4: <br /> <br />TIF Specialist Sullivan updated the EDA on the status of the Community Development Block <br />Grant Application for the Morrell Trucking and Chies Property. Anoka County Commissioners <br />approved the City's application for $270,000 to acquire blighted properties. Staff will continue <br />to update the EDA on the status of the negotiations with the property owners. <br /> <br />Mr. Sullivan reported that Anoka County requested information from the City regarding <br />available vacant land, available vacant buildings and available space in multi-tenant buildings. <br />Staff reviewed with the EDA the information that was provided to Anoka County. <br /> <br />Staff updated the EDA on the purchase of the Alloy Recovery property. The City purchased the <br />property on March 1, 2002 for $175,000. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Member Scheiber, seconded by member Gromberg, to adjourn the meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Members Anderson, Scheiber and Gromberg. <br />Voting No: None.
