Chevrons were put up, and there was some concern by some of the residents about <br />the unsightly look of the chevrons in their yardSl The determination of the Committee was to <br />continue on the course set forth, and to do another traffic study after a handful of weeks to see if <br />there is some effect. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director OlSon indicated the action of the Committee was to ratify the <br />action at the last meeting. The speed trailer has been set up to collect data, and he wants to be <br />sure they do not pull them out before the .speed analysis is done. There has been concern <br />expressed about the chevrons, but he would like :t° bring the item back to the next Public Works <br />Committee with all of the information. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Public Works Committee for Case 6 and to direct staff to continue with <br />the action as stated at the September Public Works Committee meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Absent: CoUncilmemberZimmerman. <br /> <br />7) 50% City Contribution on Street Paving Projects <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson reviewed that over the last couple of years there has been <br />a lot of conversation about the paving of streets and the benefits it provides. There are five miles <br />of dirt streets spread around the City, and every ltime it rains staff must go out and manually <br />grade these roads. There has been a lot of discussion about this, and the consensus of the <br />Committee was to direct staff to present the Committee with a proposal for a program to <br />implement the road paving projects in the City With 50 percent City financing. The finances <br />would not be available to do all five miles in one year's time. Staff will put this into the form of <br />a program and ask for formal ratification at a future date. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded :by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Public Works Committee for Case 7 and to direct staff to present the <br />Public Works Committee with a proposal for a program to implement the road paving projects in <br />the City with 50 percent City financing. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
