went beyond the easement and came within a couple of feet of a newly constructed garage. Staff <br />performed some survey work and determined that the outlet weir was set at an elevation that <br />would cause water to pond beyond the drainage and utility easement prior to discharging through <br />the emergency outfall to the river. Staff feels that the Public Works Department can perforn~ all <br />work except the landscaping. The Public Works Committee recommended that the City Council <br />approve that an analysis of the drainage basin be conducted and that necessary corrective action <br />be taken to ensure that the 100 year precipitation event is contained within the drainage and <br />utility easement at a contracted construction cost not to exceed $2,000 which shall come fi'om the <br />storm water utility. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Public Works Committee and approve that an analysis of the drainage <br />basin be conducted and that necessary corrective action be taken to ensure that the 100 year <br />precipitation event is contained within the drainage and utility easement at a contracted <br />construction cost not to exceed $2,000 which shall come from the storm water utility. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />2) Traffic Concern at 169th Avenue and Neon Street <br /> <br />Councihnember Zim~nerman explained staff has received a request from the resident at 5866 <br />169th Avenue NW to address a problem at the intersection of Neon Street and 169th Avenue <br />where cars have been running off the road, possibly from driving too fast. The Public Works <br />Committee discussed several options and came up with the idea of monitoring the speed on Neon <br />Street and 169th Avenue as a first step, installing warning signs at the intersection, and following <br />up with monitoring the speed after the chevrons have been installed. <br /> <br />Assistant Public Works Director Olson indicated staff has been monitoring the speed, but wanted <br />to wait for Council ratification before putting up the warning signs. <br /> <br />Motion by Conncilmember Zimmerman, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Public Works Committee and direct staff to proceed with monitoring the <br />speed iii the area of Neon Street and 169t~ Avenue for two days, to then install warning signs at <br />the intersection of Neon Street and 169th Avenue advising motorists of the bend in the road, and <br />to follow up with monitoring the speed after the chevrons have been installed. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
