Case # 1

By:

DEVELOPMENT SIGNS
Megan Wald, Associate Planner

Background:

At the November EDA meeting, the EDA choose the following wording for the Development Signs:
"Community Revitalization at Work, City of Ramsey, Economic Development Authority."

Observations:

Staff has been diligently working with Burt Pfeifer from TJ Associates Printing on design concepts. Attached to
the case are a couple of design options for EDA review and consideration. The EDA should also decide how
many signs to purchase at this time. Staff would suggest purchasing two signs and erecting them on the
Bakestar and Martin (yellow building) properties. Other alternative sign locations could include: 6030 Bunker
Lake Blvd. and 14280 Sunfish Lake Blvd.

Staff would like to discuss with the EDA the idea of purchasing two signs that are erected at the end of the
project that would serve more or less as a "look what the City completed/job ;yell done." One idea for language
would be: "This project is a result of the City working to enhance the community one company at a time" or
"Public & Private Partnerships with a Shared Vision Lead to Positive Results." These signs could be erected on
the subject property when the building is complete and most of the landscaping is installed and removed about
2-3 weeks later.

Recommendation:

The EDA should choose a desired design, how many signs to purchase, and where to locate the signs. The EDA
should also discuss purchasing the completed project signs.

Review Checklist:
Sean Sullivan

EDA: 12.8.04
