CC Work Session 2. 3. <br />Meeting Date: 10/24/2017 <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Discussion Regarding the Process for the City Administrator's Next Annual Performance Evaluation <br />Purpose/Background: <br />Mr. Kurt Ulrich was hired as the City Administrator on September 17, 2007. Mr. Ulrich's Employment Agreement <br />requires the completion of an annual 360 degree performance evaluation. <br />Recent Background: <br />Upon completion of the 2015 performance evaluation, discussion ensued regarding another option for a 360 review <br />tool, called <br />CheckPoint 360° and how it might benefit the City in 2016. Mr. Ulrich's 2016 performance evaluation was <br />conducted using the CheckPoint 360° online survey. The process was simplified internally and the completed <br />reports provided a detailed assessment of common leadership competencies. However, there may be an interest in <br />returning to an assessment tool that is more specific to the role of the City Administrator; such as the <br />SurveyMonkey assessment or other method based on discussion. <br />The SurveyMonkey evaluation is prepared internally based on the City Administrator's position description, the <br />City's core values and the City Council's preferences as they relate to the City Administrators's desired performance <br />outcomes. <br />A sample of both evaluations is attached. <br />Timeframe: <br />Up to 10 minutes. <br />Funding Source: <br />The cost of the online evaluation is $500.00. There is no additional costs to use SurveyMonkey. <br />Responsible Party(ies): <br />Colleen Lasher, Human Resources Manager <br />Outcome: <br />For the City Council to provide direction regarding the use of the on-line performance assessment tool, to continue <br />using the SurveyMonkey method as was done in previous years, or consider a different approach to conducting the <br />City Administrators next performance evaluation. <br />Sample Assessment <br />Current Perf Eval.
