<br />Councilmember Kuzma introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #17-10-279 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING POLICY FOR DONATION OF SURPLUS EQUIPMENT <br />TO A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />a law that went into effect August 1, 2016, allowed Non-Profit <br />Organizations 501(C)(3) to receive surplus property from the City as a donation in conformance <br />with the certain guidelines. Such guidelines were adopted on October 25, 2016, by Ramsey City <br />Council per Resolution #16-10-205; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />since that time, staff has received requests to consider disposing of <br />unclaimed found bicycles to local non-profit groups; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />the definition of Surplus Equipment in the current policy does not address <br />bicycles or other unclaimed property, but rather equipment purchased by the City for use in <br />Police, Fire, and Public Works operations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />the law allows cities to further define Surplus Equipment within their policy <br />on donation to non-profits; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />the Policy for Donation of Surplus Equipment to a Non-Profit Organization <br />is amended to reflect a broader definition of surplus equipment which will allow bicycles and the <br />The amended policy is attached to this Resolution. <br />like to be donated. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) That the City Council hereby approves the Policy for Donation of Surplus Equipment to a <br />Non-Profit Organization with its Terms and Conditions, as amended. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Johns, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br /> Mayor Strommen <br /> Councilmember Kuzma <br /> Councilmember Johns <br /> Councilmember LeTourneau <br /> Councilmember Riley <br /> Councilmember Shryock <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br /> None <br /> <br />
