Case

RESOLUTION REGARDING
NO WAKE ALONG THE RUM RIVER'
LOWER RUM RIVER M3kNAGEMENT ORGANIZATION
By: Pete Raatikka, City Engineer

Background:

At the November 16 council meeting, City Council scheduled a public
hearing for 7:00 p.m., December 13, 1988 regarding the proposed no
wake ordinance along the Rum River.

As previously discussed, this ordinance will be an Anoka County
ordinance. The Anoka County Board of.Commissioners has stated they
would consider an ordinance if the WMO drafts a proposed ordinance and
all the affected city's pass resolutions supporting that ordinance.

Both Anoka and Andover have held public hearings and they are con-
sidering increasing the motor size restrictions.

Enclosed are copies of the proposed ordinance and resolution
supporting the ordinance.

Recommendation:

I would recommend that you review the proposed ordinance following the
public hearing and make any changes that would be in the best interest
of the public. I would recommend that you send your corrections back
to Lower Rum River Management Organization for further review. All
cities affected will have to agree on common ordinance language prior
to submitting it to Anoka County.

Council Action:

Your action should be based on public input.

Review Checklist:

Administrator
Attorney
Engineer
Comm. Development Director

X

X

Chief of Police
Finance Officer
Public Works Supt.
Other
