CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at the <br />Ramsey Fire Station Number II, 15050 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Susan E. Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Principal Planner Patrick Trudgeon <br />Community Development Director Sylvia Frolik <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:08 p.m. and called <br />upon Councilmember Kurak to lead in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Sara Stroman, 14546 Krypton Street NW, Ramsey, stated that she is part of a neighborhood <br />organization called the PONDS, which was established to protect the natural surrounding around <br />wetlands and the protection of trees for the City of Ramsey. They are requesting an ordinance <br />development committee be created to assist in drafting the necessary ordinances to protect trees <br />and wetlands. <br /> <br />Bruce Iverson, 14301 Neon Street NW, Ramsey, presented some recent examples of tree removal <br />that had occurred for a development emphasizing the need for such ordinances. He stated that in <br />his opinion The Ponds development does not adhere to the guiding principals of the <br />Comprehensive Plan. He reviewed some of the language included in the Comprehensive Plan <br />relating to the preservation of trees. He stated that he does believe the developer believes he <br />complies with the Comprehensive Plan, which is the problem. During the February 12 Council <br />meeting, Mr. Black stated that the development does not require any variances and is in full <br />compliance with City standards and complies with the City's Comprehensive Plan.
