She explained that she would be most interested in addressing the safety of the children and
crossing guards in front of the school.

Donald Pierce-Public Safety Board: Stated that he moved to Ramsey in December from
Milwaukee and he can see needs coming up for the safety services in the City with all the
growth. He felt that he could be a benefit with all his expertise. He explained that as an FBI
agent he dealt with controversial issues all the time, noting one instance where there was alleged
misconduct on the part of an employee. It was not a criminal issue so he felt it should have been
held at a local level rather than at Washington. He argued that fact with his boss who agreed and
subsequently the internal auditors also agreed. He stated that he felt that the safety services in
Ramsey would have to expand because the area is growing rapidly and he would imagine that as
the population increases there would be an increase in crime.

Keith Kiefer-EDA Appointment: Stated that he would like to serve on the EDA because he likes
to serve the community and feels that Ramsey does need to attract good quality businesses and
feels he has experience that can contribute to that. He explained that he has worked in the
engineering field over 35 years in a wide variety of areas and knows the ins and outs of many
businesses disciplines. In regards to controversial issues he has worked with the youth in the
area and many times there are personality conflicts and people desiring to have different things
happen with the youth groups. He has found that if you lend a person an ear you can often come
up with a compromise that creates a win win situation for everyone. In regards to the future
growth of Ramsey he is aware of the City wanting to move forward with a down town center that
will need to have many aspects to be viable. He felt that he could help in that area to find a good
balance.

Councilmember Kurak stated that she would like to see on the Public Safety Board more of a
"common man", since the Board is already made up of law enforcement officials and Fire
Fighters.

Mayor Gamec agreed.

Councilmember Anderson stated that both the Public Safety Board candidates had strengths, but
different strengths.

Consensus of the interview panel was to appoint Alison Ward to the Public Safety Board.

EDA Chairperson Chris Reilley stated that he would recommend appointing Jim Steffen and
Keith Kiefer to the EDA. He stated that Mr. Kiefer has been involved in different commissions
and brings knowledge of the whole City and Mr. Steffen brought a financial professional view.

Assistant City Administrator Nelson reviewed the scores of the candidates for the EDA
appointments.

City Council/June 4, 2002
