Mayor Gamec stated this can be put on for discussion.

City Administrator Norman asked if Councilmember Hendriksen will put this in the form of a
motion.

Councihnember Hendriksen stated the policy is that any Councilmember can ask for an item to
be added to the Council agenda and that is what he is officially doing, and that does not require a
motion of the Council.

City Administrator Norman asked if there is Council consensus to place this item on the agenda.

Mayor Gamec stated he has no objection to putting it on the agenda and has only heard of one
citizen to complain. He stated he thinks it actually puts the residents at a disadvantage.

City Attorney Goodrich asked for a clarification of what is to be put on the agenda.

Mayor Gamec suggested that Councilmember Hendriksen meet with City Administrator Norman
and tell him what he wants put on the agenda.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated he will meet with the City Attorney to assure all the legal
requirements are met.

5) Ramey ResMent Article Regarding Polling Districts and Places

Councilmember Zimmerman stated he was asked by some residents if the next Ramsey Resident
newsletter could contain an article on the new wards and precinct boundaries and where they
vote.

Mayor Gamec stated that topic has been in the Ramsey Resident once but could be included
again.

City Attorney Goodrich advised that a letter will need to go out to everyone.

Councilmember Hendriksen stated he has heard questions whether all polling places will be
opened or only one polling place per ward. He stated he has referred other questions asked to the
City Attorney.

City Attorney Goodrich stated there is no question that all will be notified in writing in a timely
fashion but an article can be included in the Ramsey Resident as well. He advised that filings
will be opened July 2 through July 16 and stated the City will follow the statutory requirements.

City Council/June 11, 2002
