be cut down. Councihnember Hendriksen referred to Page 195 and read from that regarding <br />pulling a building permit. He asked if by pulling a building permit, could they not start taking <br />trees down. City Attorney Goodrich stated his understanding that the intention was that prior to <br />getting a building permit, they had to show which trees would be removed and it had to be <br />agreed npon by the City. City Engineer Jankowski referred to page 193; section 16, where it was <br />more definitively stated. Councilmember Hendriksen asked what would prevent the developer <br />from cutting down all the trees. City Engineer Jankowski stated it would need to be approved by <br />the City. Mayor Gamec stated they hire people that are responsible for that. Councilmember <br />Hendriksen stated this had not worked in the past. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Anderson, and Kurak. Voting <br />No: Councihnember Hendriksen, and Zimmerman. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that because this particular plat did not do very well with the <br />tree preservation ordinance, would they be willing to put a moratorium into effect. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated he would not be willing to do this on existing developments. He stated that <br />most everyone is holding off until next year. <br /> <br />Councihnember Anderson stated she thought this would be a good idea but it might be six <br />months to a year before the tree ordinance would go into effect and she did not think this would <br />be reasonable. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated they should put a development moratorium on cutting trees <br />until they get the ordinance into the books. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec recessed the regular City Council meeting at 9:15 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular City Council meeting back to order 9:23 p.m. <br /> <br />Counci hnember Hendriksen asked if they were treating the decorum ordinance as though it had <br />been adopted. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated he thought they were. <br /> <br />Councihnember Hendriksen stated he would like to exercise the personal privilege. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated he would be fine with this. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that during the last case he felt that the engineer for Midwest <br />Land Surveyors was being evasive in terms of his answers to the questions, questions he felt Mr. <br />Putnam could very easily answer and did when he was pressed. He stated it was an abuse of the <br />Mayor's position to take it upon himself to apologize for any member of the City Council.
