FIRE OFFICER SELECTIONS FOR YEAR 2005 BY: Dean KaPler, Fire Chief PC CASE # Background: Thc Fire Department Officers group m made up of the following positions: Fire Chief Assistant Fire Chief (2) ~ Captains (2) ~ Licutenants (4 two additional in 2005) Training Officer (l) ~ As in the past the paid-on-call ~ommand positions (Assr Chiefs, Captains and Lieutenants) carry a 2 year term, witli half the group available for application each year. The Training Officer term is one year. This allows both opportunity for change while also keeping a level of stability within the ranks. For the officer term of 2005/2006 the following positions were open for application: Assistant Chief #3 Captain #11 Lieutenant # 1,3,4 Training Officer Historically the Fire Chief has conducted applicant interviews and makes a recommendation to the City Administrator for approval. These interviews were completed the week of December 20, 2004. The Fire Chief conducted the interviews. The f'ollowing is a list of the redommendations of the Fire Chief, which the City Administrator has approved. Please note the list includes all positions within the fire depm'tment officer ranks.
