Ramsey Employment <br />Employment in Ramsey increased steadily from 2002 to 2008 and declined to 5,212 in 2010 due <br />primarily to declines in Construction; Manufacturing; and Wholesale Trade, as shown in Table <br />3-6. <br />Industry categories with growing employment trends from 2002 to 2010 include: Manufacturing; <br />Transportation and Warehousing; Agriculture; Utilities; Wholesale Trade; Information; Finance <br />and Insurance; Management of Companies and Enterprises; Educational Services; <br />Accommodation and Food Services; Other Services; Professional, Scientific, and Technical <br />Services; and Health Care and Social Assistance. Categories with declining trends include <br />Construction; Retail Trade; Real Estate and Rental and Leasing; Administration and Support; <br />Arts, Entertainment and Recreation; and Public Administration. Employment in office -inclined industries was steady between 2002 <br />and 2005 when employment peaked at 646 and then declined to 529 employees in 2010. <br />Assuming 250 square feet per employee, demand for office space would have been about <br />118,000 square feet in 2002 increasing to about 161,500 square feet in 2005, before declining to <br />132,250 square feet in 2010, a decline of over 18.1 percent. <br />POPULATION AND HOUSEHOLDS <br />The MSA added over 311,000 persons between 2000 and 2010, an annual growth rate of 1.0 <br />percent, as shown in Table 3-7. Anoka County grew at the same annual growth rate as the MSA <br />(1.0 percent), adding 32,760 persons or 10.5 percent of total MSA growth. Sherburne County <br />grew by 24,082 people in the past decade, which is an annual rate of increase of 3.2 percent. <br />3-8 <br />
