Chair Johns stated she agreed with Commissioner Ostrum, and she felt it was premature at this point, although she felt strongly that 'they would get to .the point some day where they'll have it on both sides. Commissioner Olds asked whether they had allocated trail right-ot'-way as part of the development that is on that comer of Alpine and 47... Park/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated that they have trail easement as part of the Alpine Acre Subdivision to provide for this eventuality, and he agreed that a trail is warranted on both sides. He stated that at this time there are a fair number of trail segments .that'are of higher priority, one of which is from Sunflower Ridge, down the hill to what will be another controlled intersection, among others. Motion by Commissioner Ostrum to recommend denial of the request for a trail to be constructed on the west side of TH 47 south of Alpine Drive. Commissioner Olds asked what the distance was from the service road to Alpine Drive. Park/Utilities Supervisor Riverblood stated it would be close to 1000 feet. He stated that the best direction from the Commission would be to get a rough cost estimate of this project. Chair Johns stated that doing it piecemeal costs more in the long mn, and you are better off doing the whole thing at once. Commissioner Olds stated he would like a cost estimate so he could make an informed decision. ParkfUtilities Supervisor Riverblood stated that the Commission could recommend that Mr. Linton cost out these pieces so that they could make priority decisions. Commissioner Pontius seconded the motion. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioners Ostrum, 'Pontius and LaMere. Voting No: Commissioner Olds. Absent: Commissioners Lehman and Shryock~ Chair Johns stated it is hard to make a decision not knowing whether the cost is $1,500 or $30,000. Civil Engineer II Linton stated he could bring this item back next month. Chair Johns stated he could bring it back and they would look at the cost, but she wanted to see the Master.Trail Plan and see these things costed out, and she didn't want to do it piecemeal. She stated the whole point was to do it comprehensively and prioritize from there. Parks/Utilities Supervisor R/verblood stated he.needed help in getting those cost analyses.
