It is important to mention at this point, that the project is just the entrance monument with sign, landscaping, sod and perennial wildflower seeding, and the connecting bituminous path. At the direction of Council, all the water related features, lighting, fountain and irrigation have not been included. However, it is believed that the remaining project is of high quality, and will be impressive, durable and stand the test of time. The Finance Committee and City Council are not being asked to reduce the quality of Central Park's Entrance to meet the earlier dollar amount reserved. But rather, to allocate the funds necessary to meet the desired objectives of an entrance worthy of Central Park, and befitting the City of Ramsey in terms of greeting visitors. Staff believes that the project could be completed in time for the June Community Picnic and all the summer events at Central 'Park-. To move forward with the project, staff recommends the following expenditures be approved by City Council: · Signage and installation "Boo" Doo Signs · General landscape Minnesota Sodding Company · Perennial wildflower seeding Mn Native Landscapes · Stone monument and stone work .... · Asphalt path .... · Engineering (of which, $5,875 has been expended) · Contingency/misc. supplies $ 9,893.75 $ 21,318.00 $ 8,150.00 $13,968.18 $ 6,280.0O $ 6,000.00 $ 795.07 Total $ 60,000.00 Attached for the Committees information is the landscape and sign detail. Finance Committee Action: Motion to recommend that City Council Authorize $60,000 in Lawful Gambling Improvement Funds to construct the Central Park Entrance Project as proposed.
