www.surveymonkey.com/r/RamseyParkMasterPlan, will close at midnight on Sunday, February
11.
Special Election Update:
• Absentee Direct Balloting. Direct balloting for in-person absentee voting began on
Tuesday, February 6. Direct balloting is Minnesota's version of`early voting'. The
absentee voter marks his ballot and feeds it into the vote tabulator versus in the absentee
envelope, which is the process for the first 39 days of absentee voting. Direct balloting is
allowed 7 days prior to the election. To date, 18 people have voted absentee at City Hall.
• Open Additional Hours. City Hall will be open additional hours to accommodate in-
person absentee voting before the Primary on February 13. Additional hours include
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, and until 5:00 p.m., Monday, February
12.
• Special Primary Election Day. All eight polling locations will be open for voting on
Tuesday, February 13; however, the staffing level at each precinct will be somewhat
lower than for a regular election.
• Results of the Election. Because this is strictly a local election, the results will not have a
running feed on the Secretary of State's website. The polling locations will not be
modeming in the results—they will be calling Anoka County Elections with the results.
Once Anoka County has compiled the absentee votes and added them to the number of
votes called in on Election night, they will email City staff a pdf of the results to post to
our website. Because that may be later in the night, the posting may not be on the City's
website until the following morning. However, staff will email out the results to the
Mayor and City Council as soon as they are available.
• Canvassing the Primary. Council will have to meet to canvas the results of the Primary
and that can be scheduled either Thursday or Friday, February 15 or 16, but must take
place by the 16th. A majority of the Council needs to be present. Staff will be contacting
Council to determine the best time to meet.
• Absentee Voting for Special General. The in-person absentee voting for the Special
General, scheduled for Tuesday, April 10, begins on February 23 (46 days before the
election).
Please contact Jo at 763-433-9840 or jthieling@cityoframsey.com if you have any questions.
Save the Date:
• Ramsey Parks & Recreation Programming- Visit www.cityoframsey.com/ParkEvents
to register and learn more about current offerings.
