FC CASE <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO ACCEPT BID AND AWARD <br />CONTRACT FOR REMODELING OF RAMSEY CITY HALL <br /> Heidi Nelson, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At its regular meeting of April 9th, 2002, Council authorized the City Administrator to <br />prepare plans and specifications and a bid package for the remodel of City Hall. Plans <br />and Specifications were prepared and the project was advertised for the period of May <br />17th, 2002 through June 4th, 2002. A pre-bid meeting was held with representatives of <br />BKV Architects and E & V Construction on May 23rd, 2002 at Ramsey City Hall to allow <br />potential bidders to review the plans with the project architects and tour the building. <br />Sealed bids were received and at City Hall at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday June 4th, 2002. <br />Seven bids were received, the contractor and bid information is attached. BKV Group <br />and E & V Construction met with the successful bidder on Friday, June 7th to review the <br />bid received. BKV Group and E & V Construction are recommending accepting the low <br />bid, Braun Built Corporation, of $96,580. With Council authorization, staff will proceed <br />to begin mobilization, with an anticipated start date for construction of July 8th, 2002. E <br />& V Construction Managers established a budget of $216,068 for the remodeling project. <br />The bid of $96,580 is well within the estimated construction costs of $124,868 and will <br />most likely help to yield an overall lower project cost. A representative of BKV Group <br />and/or E & V Construction Managers is present this evening to answer any questions you <br />may have. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff is requesting authorization to accept bid and award contract for remodeling of <br />Ramsey City Hall to Braun Built Construction in the amount of $96, 580.00. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Based on discussion. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br /> <br />
