Join the Movement: Ramsey's
Organics Recycling
Drop-off Program!
Looking for an opportunity to expand what you
recycle while also reducing what goes into your gar-
bage can? The City of Ramsey now offers an organics
recycling drop -off -program for free to those that would
like to participate! Organics make up about 1/3 of Minnesota's garbage.
Capturing organics for recycling will help Ramsey achieve the recycling
goals set by the Anoka County Board of Commissioners and the State's
goal of recycling 75% of our waste by 2030.
It is easy to get started today!
• Sign up at the Ramsey Municipal Center, by visiting www.cityofram-
sey.com/organics, or by calling our office at 763-433-9817.
• Pick up a free starter kit at the Ramsey Municipal Center (Planning
Division). This kit includes BPI certified compostable bags, a collec-
tion bin, a 5-gallon enclosed pail for transport, and organics informa-
tion.
• Collect organic waste, outlined in your starter kit and in the chart
below, in a BPI certified compostable bag and tie offthe bag.
• Bring the organics to the Public Works facility (14100 Jaspar Street
NW) and place the bag(s) in the container designated for organics
recycling. Participants will receive a code to access the locked organics
receptacles.
*.t!)41
°We
RecycleYour Old
Holiday Lights
The holidays are in our rear view
mirror now, which means many of us
will be taking down our decorations and
lighting. If you have a strand(s) of holi-
day lights that does not work anymore,
or maybe you're updating to more energy
efficient LED lights, don't throw away
the old ones, recycle them for free!
Holiday lights, as well as electric
cords, telephone cords and appliance
cords can be brought to the Ramsey
Municipal Center for recycling anytime
during regular business hours. Bins
will be available to collect these items
through January 31, 2018. Again,
there's no cost to you and you help divert
these materials from going to a landfill, a
real win -win scenario!
If you have any questions concerning
holiday waste, please contact City Plan-
ner Chris Anderson at 763-433-9817 or
canderson@cityoframsey.com.
WHAT GOES INTO THE ORGANICS BIN?
The State of Minnesota has set a very ambitious goal that would result in recycling 60% of municipal
solid waste and 15% organics recycling by the year 2030. Be a part of Organics Recycling today by vis-
iting www.cityoframsey.com/organics and sign up for the Organics Drop -Off Pilot Program!
• Baked Goods
• Dairy Products
• Houseplant Trimmings
• Tea, coffee grounds, filters
• Meat, poultry, fish
• Fruits, veggies, peels, pits, rinds
• Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) products
* Place all organics in a BPI certified compostable bag.
OP r
416
1 le
• Metal
• Plastic
• Glass
• Dryer Lint • Pet Droppings
• Microwave popcorn bags • Twist Ties
• Stickers from Produce • Aluminum Foil
• Diapers
• StyrofoamTM
• Straws
Ramsey Resident • January/February 2018
Did You
Know...
The City of Ramsey has
an off -leash dog park lo-
cated in Alpine Park, 6600
Alpine Drive NW, complete
with a pet fountain and
seating area.
