Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #18-048 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR 2018 CRACKSEAL AND SEALCOAT IMPROVEMENTS, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #18- 04 WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey adopted a budget for 2018 including $500,000 to crackseal and sealcoat various public streets as part of the City's annual Street Maintenance Program; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer prepared plans and specifications for the purpose of advertising for bids for the same improvements; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Ramsey City Council Resolution #18-027, adopted January 23, 2018, the City Council approved final plans and specifications and authorized advertisements for bids for said improvements, including a base bid and three alternate bids; and WHEREAS, bids were received, opened, and tabulated on February 20, 2018, and the following bids were found to comply with the advertisement for bids; and CONTRACTOR TOTAL BID (BASE BID + 3 ALT. BIDS Pearson Brothers, Inc. $434,699.22 Allied Blacktop Company $518,892.91 Asphalt Surface Technologies Corporation $593,680.14 Engineer's Estimate $554, 640.56 WHEREAS, the bid of Pearson Brothers, Inc. of Hanover, Minnesota, in the amount of $434,699.22 for the total bid for construction of said improvements, which includes the base bid and three alternate bids, in accordance with the approved plans and specifications and advertisement for bids, is the lowest responsible bidder and their bid shall be and hereby is accepted. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with said lowest responsible bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of the City of Ramsey.
