Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #18-048 <br />RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR 2018 <br />CRACKSEAL AND SEALCOAT IMPROVEMENTS, IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #18- <br />04 <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey adopted a budget for 2018 including $500,000 to <br />crackseal and sealcoat various public streets as part of the City's annual Street Maintenance <br />Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Engineer prepared plans and specifications for the purpose of <br />advertising for bids for the same improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Ramsey City Council Resolution #18-027, adopted January 23, <br />2018, the City Council approved final plans and specifications and authorized advertisements for <br />bids for said improvements, including a base bid and three alternate bids; and <br />WHEREAS, bids were received, opened, and tabulated on February 20, 2018, and the <br />following bids were found to comply with the advertisement for bids; and <br />CONTRACTOR <br />TOTAL BID <br />(BASE BID + <br />3 ALT. BIDS <br />Pearson Brothers, Inc. <br />$434,699.22 <br />Allied Blacktop Company <br />$518,892.91 <br />Asphalt Surface Technologies Corporation <br />$593,680.14 <br />Engineer's Estimate <br />$554, 640.56 <br />WHEREAS, the bid of Pearson Brothers, Inc. of Hanover, Minnesota, in the amount of <br />$434,699.22 for the total bid for construction of said improvements, which includes the base bid <br />and three alternate bids, in accordance with the approved plans and specifications and <br />advertisement for bids, is the lowest responsible bidder and their bid shall be and hereby is <br />accepted. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />1) The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a <br />contract with said lowest responsible bidder for the construction of said improvements for <br />and on behalf of the City of Ramsey. <br />
