Environmental Policy Board (EPB) 6. 1. <br />Meeting Date: 01/22/2018 <br />By: Chris Anderson, Community <br />Development <br />Title: <br />Staff Inupt <br />Information <br />Purpose/Background: <br />There are multiple items that Staff wanted to communicate to the Board. <br />RCP Open House <br />As a reminder, there is an Open House for the fall semester RCP Projects scheduled for Tuesday, January 23 from <br />5-7pm at the Ramsey Municipal Center. This will be in place of a specific presentation to the EPB as the logistics <br />just couldn't be worked out. See the attached flyer for more information. <br />2018 Rain Barrel and Compost Bin Sale <br />The Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM) is coordinating rain barrel and compost bin sale events across the <br />Twin Cities this spring/summer and are seeking partners to host the distribution events. While this does not provide <br />any specific discount for residents, if Ramsey were interested (and selected by RAM) in hosting a distribution <br />event, it would be more convenient for residents to pick up their purchased products. Staff wanted to gauge the <br />EPB's interest/support in pursuing this opportunity. Staff has not yet obtained the specific details, but Ramsey did <br />host an event a couple years back and there was no additional costs to the City and RAM staff handled all pre -sales <br />and inquiries. At that time at least, the City's only obligation was to help promote the event (could do so through the <br />Ramsey Resident, Ramsey Recycler, and website) and provide space for the distribution event (used the same site <br />that our recycling events use). <br />Photo Contest <br />The City sponsored a Photo Contest in 2017 as a form of public engagement for our Comprehensive Plan Update. <br />There were multiple categories for photos including: Nature of Ramsey, Parks and Trails, Industry and Commerce, <br />and Life in Ramsey. As one of the advisory boards/commissions in the City, the Environmental Policy Board is <br />being invited to assist with the voting process as it relates to the Nature in Ramsey category. Sometime prior to the <br />February EPB meeting, Staff will forward the photos to the Board for review as well as with instructions on how to <br />place your vote.
