Our Mistioi : To work together to resposibly grow our community, and to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient government services. <br />Canvassing Board <br />Meeting Date: 02/15/2018 <br />By: Jo Thieling, Administrative Services <br />4. 1. <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Declare the Results of the February 13, 2018 Special Primary Election <br />Purpose/Background: <br />Purpose: The purpose of this case is to accept and declare the results of the February 13, 2018 Special Primary <br />Election. <br />Background: As per State Statutes, the City Council must serve as a Canvassing Board to accept and declare the <br />results of a local election. The Special Primary Election was held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, and the City's <br />eight polling places were open for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The residents also had the opportunity to vote <br />absentee if they chose, either at Ramsey City Hall, at Anoka County Elections Department, or by mail. <br />The voter turnout for the special Primary Election, including absentee votes, was 1.37 percent. Attached to this case <br />is the Abstract of Votes Cast. <br />The Special Primary Election was to fill a vacancy for an At -Large Council seat. There were four candidates: Skip <br />Carlson, Chris Riley, Sue Suchy and Ida Theis. The two candidates with the most votes will be on the ballot for the <br />Special General Election scheduled for April 10, 2018.
