<br />Councilmember Kuzma introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #18-039 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE REALIGNMENT OF THE CENTRAL ANOKA <br />COUNTY REGIONAL TRAIL <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />,safe access to parks, trails, and recreation areas, are essential to the quality <br />of life, health and welfare of the City of Ramsey and the regions’s residents; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />the City of Ramsey and County of Anoka continue to work with other <br />agencies and partners in a cooperative effort to develop Mississippi West Regional Park and other <br />regional connections within the city; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> these cooperative efforts include funding by the City of Ramsey for the boat <br />landing, construction of the trail from Riverdale Drive to the river with overlook, development of <br />the Mississippi River Regional Trail from Anoka to MnDOT’s Wayside Rest, the acquisition of <br />an easement to the west of the park for a 2018 trail development project, the acquisition of the <br />touch-down easement for the completion of the future pedestrian bridge over Hwy 10 to the <br />Mississippi River Regional Trail, and the contribution of $490,000 from the National Park Service <br />for the Final Plans and Specifications for the aforementioned bridge; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the County of Anoka has proposed a realignment of the Central Anoka <br />County Regional Trail from Ramsey Boulevard to the West, to be aligned to Center Street, the <br />Northstar Commuter rail station and existing skyway, and future grade separated crossing of Hwy <br />10 for a safe, direct, and multimodal connection to the Mississippi River Regional Trail and <br />Mississippi West Regional Park, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the Metropolitan Council requires an amendment to the Master Plan for the <br />realignment of the Central Anoka County Regional Trail be approved by the Metropolitan Council; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> the City of Ramsey’s Park and Recreation Commission has reviewed and <br />strongly recommendations to City Council the proposed realignment. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />1)That, the City of Ramsey hereby offers unequivocal support to Anoka County and <br />Metropolitan Council for an amendment to the Master Plan for the realignment of the <br />Central Anoka County Regional Trail. <br /> <br /> <br />2)That, the City of Ramsey and County of Anoka continue to work in a cooperative effort <br />to fund and develop Mississippi West Regional Park and Regional Trail improvements <br />within the city. <br /> <br /> <br />
