<br /> <br />1.Summary of Regional Strategies <br /> <br />This Plan has been prepared to be consistent with the regional transportation strategies outlined <br />in the Metropolitan Council 2040 Transportation Policy Plan (TPP). Similar to this Plan, the TPP <br />evaluates the existing transportation system, identifies transportation challenges to the region, <br />and sets regional goals, objectives, and priorities to meet the transportation needs of current <br />agencies in coordinating land use and transportation and establishes regional performance <br />measures and targets. <br /> <br />The TPP is guided by the following goals: <br /> Sustainable investments in the transportation <br />Transportation system stewardship: <br /> <br />system are protected by strategically preserving, maintaining, and operating system <br />assets. <br />The regional transportation system is safe and secure for all users. <br />Safety and Security: <br /> <br /> People and businesses prosper by using a reliable, affordable, and <br />Access to Destinations: <br /> <br />efficient multimodal transportation system that connects them to destinations throughout <br />the region and beyond. <br />The regional transportation system supports the economic <br />Competitive Economy: <br /> <br />competitiveness, vitality, and prosperity of the region and State. <br /> The regional transportation system advances equity and <br />Healthy Environment: <br /> <br />cultural, and developed environments. <br />The region leverages <br />Leveraging Transportation Investment to Guide Land Use: <br /> <br />transportation investments to guide land use and development patterns that advance the <br />regional vision of stewardship, prosperity, livability, equity, and sustainability. <br /> <br /> <br />Chapter X Transportation (DRAFT) Page X-3 <br />Adopted XXXXXXX XX, 2017 <br /> <br />
