Councilmember Anderson introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #02-05-120 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HIRING OF JENNIFER FURAN AS THE CRIME <br />PREVENTION SPECIALIST INTERN <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on January 22, 2002, the Council authorized staff to hire a Crime <br />Prevention Specialist Intern for the Police Department. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the position was posted on the Internet and four applications were received; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, two candidates were interviewed by a staff panel. The panel did not <br />recommend hiring either of the candidates. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the position was posted in the StarTribune and 29 letters of interest were <br />received, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, 11 candidates were interviewed by the same staff panel, and the panel <br />recommended to the Personnel Committee to hire Brenda Cooper for the Crime Prevention <br />Specialist Internship. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ms. Cooper began employment but submitted her resignation shortly after <br />beginning work due to family medical issues. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Staff then reviewed the other candidates that were interviewed and <br />contacted the next highest-ranking candidate, Jennifer Furan. Ms. Furan was still interested in <br />the internship opportunity; therefore, the panel recommended to the Personnel Committee to hire <br />Jennifer Furan as the Crime Prevention Specialist Intern. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />That the City Council of the City of Ramsey confirms the recommendation of the <br />Personnel Committee to ratify the hiring of Jennifer Furan as the Crime Prevention <br />Specialist Intern. <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />That Ms. Furan will be compensated at a wage of $10.00/hour for an initial period not to <br />exceed six months. Ms. Furan's hiring is contingent on successful completion of <br />drug/alcohol screening. <br /> <br />3) <br /> <br />That as a part-time temporary position, Ms. Furan will not be eligible for vacation, sick <br />leave, holiday pay, or health and life insurance <br /> <br /> <br />
