• Guide for the Development of Bicycle Facilities, American Association of State Highway <br />and Transportation Officials <br />• Guide for the Planning, Design, and Operation of Pedestrian Facilities, American <br />Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials <br />• Complete Streets Implementation Resource Guide for Minnesota Local Agencies, <br />MnDOT <br />• Public Rights of Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG), US Access Board <br />A Complete Streets approach to planning and implementing non -motorized facilities, as <br />described in the MnDOT Complete Streets Implementation Resource Guide, can provide a <br />helpful framework for creating a community -supported, safe, comfortable, and convenient <br />transportation network that serves all modes. A Complete Streets policy or process is intended <br />to provide design guidance and implementation clarity, allowing the community and project <br />designers to advance individual projects in a collaborative and cost-efficient manner. <br />Accessibility is a very important consideration for non -motorized design. All new pedestrian <br />and bicycle facilities must meet the ADA accessibility guidelines established in PROWAG. The <br />guidelines in PROWAG address the design needs of people with physical and/or visual <br />impairments. Accessibility will become increasingly important over the next 20 years due to <br />demographic changes.
