City of Ramsey Local Water Supply Plan <br />• Fulfill the contingency plan provisions required in the MDH wellhead protection and <br />surface water protection plans. <br />• Fulfill the demand reduction requirements of Minnesota Statutes, section 103G.291 <br />subd 3 and 4. <br />• Upon implementation, contribute to maintaining aquifer levels, reducing potential <br />well interference and water use conflicts, and reducing the need to drill new wells or <br />expand system capacity. <br />• Enable DNR to compile and analyze water use and conservation data to help guide <br />decisions. <br />• Conserve Minnesota's water resources <br />If your community needs assistance completing the Water Supply Plan, assistance is available <br />from your area hydrologist or groundwater specialist, the MN Rural Waters Association circuit <br />rider program, or in the metropolitan area from Metropolitan Council staff. Many private <br />consultants are also available. <br />WSP Approval Process <br />10 Basic Steps for completing a 10-Year Water Supply Plan <br />1. Download the DNR/Metropolitan Council Water Supply Plan Template <br />www.mndnr.gov/watersupplvplans <br />2. Save the document with a file name with this naming convention: <br />WSP_cityname_permitnumber_date.doc. <br />3. The template is a form that should be completed electronically. <br />4. Compile the required water use data (Part 1) and emergency procedures information <br />(Part 2) <br />5. The Water Conservation section (Part 3) may need discussion with the water <br />department, council, or planning commission, if your community does not already have <br />an active water conservation program. <br />6. Communities in the seven -county Twin Cities metropolitan area should complete all the <br />information discussed in Part 4. The Metropolitan Council has additional guidance <br />information on their webpage http://www.metrocouncil.org/Handbook/Plan- <br />Elements/Water-Resources/Water-Supplv.aspx. All out -state water suppliers do not <br />need to complete the content addressed in Part 4. <br />7. Use the Plan instructions and Checklist document to insure all data is complete and <br />attachments are included.
