MS4 Name: <br />Minimum Control Measure: <br />Unique BMP Identification Number: <br />BMP Summary Sheet <br />City of Ramsey <br />PUBLIC EDUCATION AND OUTREACH <br />1 c-2 <br />*BMP Title: Education Program: Public Participation <br />*Audience(s) Involved: <br />General Public including City Residents, homeowners and business owners. <br />*Educational Goals for Each Audience: <br />Increase public awareness and understanding of stormwater issues within the community. <br />Inform and educate the public about the impacts of stormwater runoff on water quality and what they can do to <br />actively protect local lakes and streams from polluted stormwater runoff. <br />Inform and educate the public about how the City manages stormwater runoff through its' Stormwater Pollution <br />Prevention Program (SWPPP). <br />*Activities Used to Reach Educational Goals: <br />The City will report in the Ramsey Resident on activities related to managing stormwater and implementing the <br />SWPPP. Topics for the newsletter may include information about the water quality of our City lakes and streams; <br />events and programs the public can participate in to raise awareness about stormwater impacts; specific stormwater <br />management activities the City is implementing; and the stormwater budget/ fees. <br />Displays and handouts will be available at the annual Environmental Expo. <br />*Activity Implementation Plan: <br />Annually — Publish articles on stormwater management and the SWPPP in the Ramsey Resident, update web <br />content. <br />Annually in spring — Participate in the Environmental Expo. <br />Ongoing — provide pet waste bags in city parks <br />*Performance Measures: <br />Survey citizens to determine if stormwater articles were read and if their knowledge of stormwater issues was <br />increased. <br />Track number of persons participating in Environmental Expo. <br />City will evaluate effectiveness of Education program after 2 years and make adjustments as needed to make <br />program more effective. <br />Pet waste bag dispensers have been placed in parks.
