CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. Members Present: Mayor Sarah Strommen Councilmember Jill Johns Councilmember Mark Kuzma Councilmember John LeTourneau Councilmember Chris Riley Councilmember Melody Shryock Also Present: City Administrator Kurtis Ulrich Human Resources Manager Colleen Lasher 1. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Strommen called the City Council Work Session to order at 6:35 p.m. 2. TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION 2.01: City Board and Commission Interviews The Council received paper copies of the candidates' application materials, the incumbents' letters of interest/recommendations and the interview questions. Each candidate was given a twenty -minute timeframe for their interview. Three incumbents were recommended for reappointment. The Council conducted interviews with Melissa Fetterley, Laura Moore, Daniel Onyambu and Pam Thinesen for available Board and Commission positions and asked the same six questions of each applicant. It was the consensus of the Council to appoint Laura Moore (four-year term) to the Environmental Policy Board and Daniel Onyambu (one-year term) on the Planning Commission. It was the consensus of the Council to re -advertise the open seat on the Economic Development Authority (EDA) in an effort to attract candidates that would rank the EDA as their first or second choice versus the rankings from the current applicant pool which were less interested in serving on the EDA. It was the consensus of the Council to re -advertise the EDA with language stating that real estate experience would be a plus. 5. ADJOURNMENT City Council Work Session / March 20, 2018 Page 1 of 2
