Member Kiefer noted he had requested a discussion with Bruce Bacon be placed on a future <br />agenda during the October 13th meeting. Associate Planner Wald replied she contacted Mr. <br />Bacon to inform him of the request and it will likely be on the agenda of the January or February <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Absent: Chairperson Riley, Members Kurak and LeTourneau. <br /> <br />EDA BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Development Signs <br /> <br />Associate Planner Wald reviewed with the EDA that at the October 13, 2004 EDA meeting, the <br />authority directed staff to solicit input from EDAM members related to language ideas for <br />economic development signs. Staff sent a mass email to all EDAM members asking if anyone <br />has utilized signs that promote City initiated economic development projects. Staff received <br />several emails stating that such a sign would be a great idea but nobody had an existing <br />economic development sign. Several cities utilize land use or zoning signs to signify a land use <br />application has been submitted to the City. She reviewed a flyer received in the mail, and an <br />email with suggestions received from Mike Mulrooney. Staff recommends that the EDA make a <br />determination on appropriate language to be contained on the signs and direct staff to begin <br />working with TJ & Associates. It is important to establish language that reflects the intent and <br />purpose the signs are intended to'serve. <br /> <br />The consensus of the EDA was that the signs should include the following language: <br /> <br />Community Revitalization at Work <br />City of Ramsey <br />Economic Development Authority <br /> <br />Case #2: Monument Signs <br /> <br />Economic DevelopmentJTIF Specialist Sullivan reviewed with the EDA that staff presented sign <br />types to the EDA on September 8, 2004 and the EDA identified three types of signs that they <br />preferred. Staff was directed to research the cost involved with the preferred signs and to present <br />the information to the EDA. The Brock White Company of Elk River constructed the signs <br />selected by the EDA, and all quotes are provided from that business. It has been discussed that it <br />may be beneficial to light the signs. He presented the EDA with samples of Indiana Limestone <br />and Kasota Limestone for their review. He indicated the signs range in price from $9,430 to <br />$12,765. Staff would like direction on the verbiage for the signs, as well as to proceed. <br /> <br />Acting Chairperson Steffen asked how many signs there would be.
