Absent: Commissioners Vogt, Ebel, Fischer and Swanson. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Case #1: Review Annual Letter to Judge <br /> <br />City Clerk Thieling presented the Charter's annual summary letter to the Chief Judge. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Deemer and seconded by Councilmember Simenson to approve the <br />letter and direct staff to mail it to the Chief Judge of the Tenth Judicial District. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Commissioners LaMere, Deemer, Simenson, Bertzyk and <br />Frederick. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Vogt, Ebel, Fischer and Swanson. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Update on Proposed Charter Amendment <br /> <br />The Charter Comlnission received the report on the proposed Charter amendment which was <br />basically housekeeping items related to the City going to a ward system and increasing the <br />Council size. The proposed amendment went to the City Council in ordinance form on <br />November 9. A public hearing was held and the ordinance was adopted on November 23. It was <br />published on November 26th and becomes part of the Charter effective March 3, 2005, providing <br />there is no petition against it. The Commission did not need to take any further action; this case <br />was for informational purposes only. <br /> <br />Case #3: Advertise for Vacancy <br /> <br />The Charter Commission directed staff to advertise to fill the vacancy left by Tim Vogt <br />commencing the first week of January in the Anoka County Union, Ramsey Resident, and on the <br />Community Sign. It was suggested the cut-off date be left open. The two applicants from the <br />last round of vacancies will be contacted to see if they would like their letter of interest <br />considcrcd for this vacancy. Mr. Vogt may continue to serve until his vacancy is filled. <br /> <br />Case #4: Staff Report on Follow-Up Items <br /> <br />1) Training Budget - the Commission requested that the amount be changed to $2,000 for <br /> year 2006. It was determined that objectives for the training dollars should be set. That <br /> will be discussed as a case on a subsequent agenda. <br />2) Number of Charter Cities - Staff will contact the League of Mim~esota Cities again to see <br /> il' they have that information. <br />3) Presentation to Charter- The Commission will submit questions to Clerk Thieling if they <br /> think of them prior to the meeting date. <br />4) Vacancies - dealt with in Case #3. <br />5) Contact Information - Clerk Thieling received more information and will pass that along <br /> to the Commission. <br /> <br />Charter Commission - December 16, 2004 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
