CC Regular Session 4. 15. <br />Meeting Date: 07/24/2018 <br />By: Colleen Lasher, Administrative <br />Services <br />Information <br />Title <br />Adopt Resolution #18-145 Filling the Vacant Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker Position <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire a full-time Streets Maintenance Worker to fill the current <br />vacancy. <br />The City currently has one Streets Maintenance Worker vacancy. As a result of the vacancy, an internal recruitment <br />was conducted and it was not necessary to conduct an external recruitment. Staff conducted an interview with Mr. <br />Jacob Marks, a current seasonal employee. Mr. Marks has worked for the City every season since 2014, including <br />work in the Parks Division and as an on -call snowplow driver. Mr. Marks recently obtained a commercial driver's <br />license, which qualifies him for the full-time regular Streets Maintenance Worker position. Mr. Marks subsequently <br />participated in the City's pre -employment testing process. The City extended a contingent job offer pending City <br />Council approval. If hired, Mr. Marks will be subject to a six-month probationary period, the personnel policy and <br />the AFSCME labor agreement. <br />Notification: <br />The Street Maintenance Worker position is responsible for constructing and maintaining streets, parking lots and <br />related property; performing snow related activities; performing general maintenance activities; performing general <br />labor; performing vehicle and motorized equipment maintenance; performing and assisting with landscape, grounds <br />care, and forestry/naturalist activities; providing assistance with preparation of community events; performing <br />mechanical building maintenance and repair; as well as a wide range of other tasks as required. <br />Funding Source: <br />The funding required for this position has already been included in the 2018 budget and represents a savings when <br />compared to the previously anticipated allocation. <br />Recommendation: <br />To hire Mr. Jacob Marks as a full-time Public Works Streets Maintenance Worker, effective on or near July 23, <br />2018, at $21.77 per hour which is step 1 of the 2018 wage scale. <br />Action: <br />Motion to adopt resolution #18-145 to hire Mr. Jacob Marks as a full-time Public Works Streets Maintenance <br />Worker, effective on or near July 23, 2018, at $21.77 per hour, which is step 1 of the 2018 wage scale. <br />Resolution 18-145 <br />Attachments <br />Form Review <br />Inbox Reviewed By Date <br />Tim Gladhill Tim Gladhill 07/19/2018 11:58 AM <br />
